Four Foot Boa. ohnoohnoohnoohno!

When I wanted to adopt two cats from the Royal SPCA, I had to have a home visit. I was insulted but endured it. At the end of the visit the gal told me a few horror stories, enough to mollify my attitude. Sigh.

Years later, we rescued two tiny kittens in Sumatra: one was in the middle of the road, the size of the tuna can I opened to feed her. The other was paralyzed from the waist down screaming his wee head off. That turned out to be worms, not injury. Several years later we flew both from Indonesia to the US. They lived to 15 and 17 years old. My treasures.

My current two are mid-covid rescues, obviously dumped as they were both very people oriented. Fat and happy now.

Thanks for reading Daniel! I just thought it sounded funny. Though he probably was. Our caretakers-Maya. The neighbor who saved him-Mexican —he had to get cat of many languages to get by.

So cool. And I suppose cats often don’t listen to people, matter which language is spoken!

I bet he had a better life in Puerto Morelos than he would have had in SF. So much to see and do! Thanks for sharing his life with us!

My pleasure. In SF he would have been an indoor cat. So yeah, we always said Max ran the show. Thanks for reading.

Max was destined to live the exciting life of a gringo, milagro cat. And what a long, great life he had. Cats are so interesting how they can be so cuddly and affectionate, creatures of comfort, and yet be so brave and daring and "wild" when they're out on their own. Too bad he couldn't have worn a go-pro camera to document some of his escapades! They do enrich our lives.

So true, Barbra. And he just adapted, but cats are made for adjusting to their environment, I think. It would have been great to have a go-pro. Early on he had a little collar. That lasted a minute, so even if go ‘-pros had been in even, it would probably have ended up on the beach or the mangroves. Thanks for following along!!

What an amazing cat! He lived to about 84 in human years—pretty darn good for a gringo in the jungle.

That’s why it was so cool when the vet called him Milagro 🐈‍⬛ Gato. Miracle cat. (That guy was so cool and kind). Yes, 84!! Old timer!!

This was such a fun read. I never thought of a migratory pet in this way. What a flexibility and survival instinct Max had!
